AFTER STUDYING FILM AND SCRIPTWRITING AT WESLEYAN AND DUKE UNIVERSITIES AS WELL AS HUMBOLDT-UNIVERSITÄT ZU BERLIN, MATTHEW WAY BEGAN WORKING AS A PROFESSIONAL FILM TRANSLATOR IN CARACAS, VENEZUELA, IN 1998.
SINCE 2003, HE HAS BEEN A FREELANCE SUBTITLER AND TRANSLATOR, STARTING OUT IN HAMBURG, GERMANY. IN COOPERATION WITH COLLEAGUES, HE HAS SINCE TRANSLATED MOVIES FROM AND INTO MORE THAN 40 LNAGUAGES. 2007 HE FOUNDED HIS FIRST COMPANY AND WENT ON PRODUCING COUNTLESS SUBTITLES AND TRANSLATIONS FOR DISTRIBUTORS, WORLD SALES PRODUCTION COMPANIES, PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS (E.G. GOETHE INSTITUTE AND GERMAN FILMS) AS WELL AS DIRECTLY FOR WRITERS AND DIRECTORS. 2014 SAW MATTHEW HAVE HIS OWN FEATURE FILM, "THE GENITAL WARRIORS" SUBTITLED INTO 20 LANGUAGES.
